We are pleased to announce that, in recognition of both learners and teachers of English as a Second Language, ORTESOL has designated April 27- May 4, 2008 as ESL Awareness Week. We invite all K-12, adult education, and higher education institutions in Oregon to celebrate ESL Awareness Week by hosting various events and activities. We encourage instructors and teachers to participate by planning special activities in their classrooms. Events and activities can include:
We invite both ESL learners and instructors to submit articles, poems, and stories related to ESL learning and teaching. We will publish the most interesting ones in the next edition of the ORTESOL Newsletter. Please e-mail your submissions to the Newsletter Editors. The closing date is May 12, 2008 .
Please help us develop SIG mission statements The chair persons for the ORTESOL special interest groups are in the process of developing new mission statements. Please take a moment to visit your own SIG Web pages to read the statements then click the "tell us what you think" link to provide us with any comments or suggestions you have.
