Action Research Grants for ORTESOL Members - Download this document as a pdf or as .doc

ORTESOL has established a program to provide for action research support. The purpose of the action research program is to encourage and support innovative practices in teaching. Action research consists of projects or ideas that grow from an instructor's desire to know if a new teaching strategy or new materials are working and effective in helping students.

ORTESOL will fund a research project for up to $500.

A project funded under this program will have one year to be completed. The grant recipient must provide a final report suitable for publication in the ORTESOL Journal and give a presentation at the annual fall convention. Grant recipients will be announced in the ORTESOL Newsletter.

Award is made in two payments directly to the successful applicant. Eighty percent (80%) of the award is paid at the beginning of the project period and the balance upon submission of an article for the Journal.

Applicants must be members of ORTESOL and submit a completed ORTESOL Action Research Grant Application (found on the following page). Deadline for application is Monday, April 1, 2010.
