| ORTESOL Membership
ORTESOL, C/O PSU Applied Linguistics, PO Box 751, Portland,
OR 97207-0751 Purpose of ORTESOL
The
purpose of the corporation is
to carry out exclusively charitable, educational, and
scientific purposes as described in Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal
Revenue Code. The primary mission
is to promote professionalism within the community of teachers who work
with non-native
speakers of English in Oregon by promoting professional development and
opportunities for
collaboration within this field. The corporation will promote and
sponsor at least one annual
conference. The corporation intends to promote and sponsor programs,
seminars, conferences
and workshops as well as serve as a source of information on resources
available in the field. (Please refer to the ORTESOL Constitution and Bylaws for more information.)
Membership Benefits
Voting membership will be open to
all individuals who are teaching, preparing to teach, or
interested in English as a second or foreign language in accordance with
criteria established by the Board of Directors. Nonvoting membership will be
open to institutions, agencies, and commercial organizations in accordance with
criteria established by the Board of Directors. Annual dues will be payable by
each member in such amount as is specified by the executive committee. The
membership year will begin with the annual conference each year and end at the
beginning of the next annual conference. Dues will not be prorated.
All members will receive ORTESOL
publications and information related to ORTESOL
without any extra charge. Members will receive such other discounts and benefits as may be
established by the Board. (Please refer to the ORTESOL Constitution and Bylaws for more information.)
Institutional Benefits
Institutional members are entitled to the same benefits as individual
members, plus: (1) one designated person at the institution
receives a personal membership included in the institutional
membership (please specify person); (2) the institution can
send visiting foreign scholars to ORTESOL conferences, free
of charge, with prior approval of the Conference Coordinator;
and (3) a link to the institution's
web page from the ORTESOL web page will be established.
